Description

Video clips of a 1 year old female Nigerian child who presented with a month history of abnormal body movements characterised by intermittent rocking or thrusting of the pelvis which usually aborts with distraction. She was initially diagnosed with seizure disorder which was changed to INFANTILE MASTURBATION (GRATIFICATION DISORDER) after reviewing a video clip of the episodes. It resolved with simple behavioural therapy entailing the parents consistently distracting the child during the episodes (video were provided by parents and shared with their permission for publication/educational purposes).
