Description

Signal acquisition was performed using a laboratory-grade force platform (AccuSway Plus, Advanced Mechanical Technologies, Inc.). Force platform data was obtained by connecting the device to a 16-bit analog-to-digital data acquisition board (NI-USB 6210, National Instruments, Texas, USA) according to the manufacturer’s manual. CoP signals were stored in .TXT files for off-line digital signal processing of the CoP using package ‘signal’ in R Project. CoP data for AP and ML directions were independent processed and consisted only of filtering using a 4th order Butterworth 2.5 Hz lowpass filter. The CoP signals were then split into the 9 epochs—namely centering and trials #1 to #8—by tracing backward the 20-s and the 3-s periods for the calculation of the outcome variables. Optimization properties were computed for the CoP radial displacement Z(t) using the open-source code available in R Project.
