Cleaned data set for an experimental study looking at the relationship between uncertainty, intolerance of uncertainty, and mind-wandering. We hypothesized that inducing uncertainty would increase mind-wandering during a subsequent unrelated reading task. Unexpectedly, this manipulation did not affect felt uncertainty but did affect intolerance of uncertainty, such that participants assigned to the uncertain condition reported greater intolerance of uncertainty. Exploratory analyses found that intolerance of uncertainty mediated the effect of thinking about uncertainty on mind-wandering.
