Water_Permeation_Data_Nafion_Membrane
Description
The provided Excel-files contain the steady-state water permeation data at different operating conditions in a membrane humidifier. The membrane humidifier "Module 1" is a flat-sheet, single-layer membrane module in a counter-flow configuration. In the "Analysis" tab the calculated results for the four gas streams, Wet Inlet, Wet Outlet, Dry Inlet, and Dry Outlet are presented. From these values the water recovery rate in the membrane module, the water flux, and the overall permeance was calculated. The tab "Averaged raw data" shows the averaged measurement values of the experimental setup that are used for the calculations in the "Analysis" tab. Measurement values were taken every second and each test point was measured for at least 30 minutes after reaching steady-state conditions. The data was then averaged over the measurement time at steady-state. Since the values for water permeation varied for different membrane samples, multiple test runs with different membrane samples were averaged. The tab "Averaged raw data" shows the averaged values for these different test runs. For Nafon 211, the data shows the average of two different membrane samples and one test run with each sample. Three different samples and a total of seven test runs are averaged for Nafion 212 and two samples and a total of four test runs are averaged for Nafion 115. The tab "Properties" contains coefficients for the calculation of the saturation vapor pressure with the Wagner equation, the coefficients for the calculation of the enhancement factor and compressibility, and the molar masses. The other tabs show diagrams of the overall permeance and water flux for different operating conditions.

Steps to reproduce
Place the Nafion membranes in a flat-sheet membrane module in a counter-flow configuration and monitor the temperatures, pressures and relative humidities of all gas streams going in and coming out of the module. The module should be placed inside a heating oven to ensure isothermal operating conditions. Set all operating conditions according to the test points to reproduce and run the test point for at least 30 minutes after steady-state conditions have been reached.
