Description

The study analyzed the causal relationships of time series data using the VEC model to gauge the effect of use of internet on GDP contribution of the agriculture and industry sector to determine whether digital divide plays a part in the under performance of the agriculture sector. The findings of this study find compelling evidence that there is significant positive impact of use of internet on the GDP share of the industry sector in Bangladesh. The dataset is derived from the compilation of datasets in the World Development Indicators. The time series data for the variable Use of internet was collected from International Telecommunication Union (ITU) World Telecommunication/ICT Indicators Database . It spanned a time series from the year 1997 to 2021. AgriGDP and IndstrGDP time series datasets are collected from World Bank National Accounts Data. The United Nations System of National Accounts calls for value added to be valued at either basic prices (excluding net taxes on products) or producer prices (including net taxes on products paid by producers but excluding sales or value added taxes). Both valuations exclude transport charges that are invoiced separately by producers. Total GDP is measured at purchaser prices. Value added by industry is normally measured at basic prices. The time series starts from 1960 and values come upto the year 2021.
