Description

This is a bibliography of 46 publications relevant to the Coarse Boulder Deposits (CBD) located on the west and northwest Atlantic coast of Ireland. Deposits were first identified in early Ordinance mapping published in 1871. Reports are not available again for 135 years. Then a series of papers that involved Professor Williams from The National University of Ireland, Galway, were published. These papers set the scene for number of investigations by European and American-based scientists and their students. Over the following two decades the published research explored the geomorphology, location, setting, timing, storm wave climate, boulder entrainment mechanisms and the origin of the deposits and the formative waves (storm v's tsunami). The detailed work has provided observational field data for numerical, laboratory and empirical modelling which continues to move the field forward.
