Description

The article analyzes the suitable model for estimating the stem age of Populus alba using its diameter. The results show that the Richards model was the most suitable for estimating the age of P. alba stems. The nonlinear regression curve between tree rings and stem diameter fitted with the Richards model was suitable for estimating the stem age of P. alba, avoiding the need to cut down trees and protecting forests. The fitted nonlinear regression curves of tree rings and stem diameter with the Clare and Sloboda models were close to the measured data and could be also used to estimate tree age.
