Description

The dataset covers secondary market prices of 2,322 LEGO sets in 2015, which represent the averages of 30 most recent completed transactions on eBay, provided by brickpicker.com. There are two prices of each set depending on its condition: ‘new’ and ‘used’. We also report each set’s id, name, theme, year of release, the original primary market price, size and the number of minifigures. These data were collected from Maciorowski and Maciorowski (2015), where the original source of data is brickpicker.com, which, in turn, takes the data from eBay. Additionally, we provide monthly secondary market price data for a sub-sample of 223 sets from 8 most popular for collectors themes for the more recent period from December 2015 until April 2019. We also provide monthly price data for 2,322 sets for a shorter period, January 2018 – April 2019. These data were parsed from brickpicker.com directly and are not available there now. The data can be used for a time-series and cross-sectional analysis of LEGO returns on the secondary market. Finally, we provide LEGO chain and hedonic yearly return indices for 1987-2015, estimated in Dobrynskaya and Kishilova (2022).
