Description

This dataset contains hydrochemical data collected during 18 sampling campaigns between June 2023 and January 2024 at the Inlet and the effluents of three anaerobic constructed wetlands (CW01, CW02, CW03) of the Bioremediation Pilot Plant, in the Negro River sub-basin, Cordillera Blanca, Peru. The ACWs treat river water contaminated by acid rock drainage associated with glacial retreat. Variables include pH, temperature, electrical conductivity, total dissolved solids, oxidation-reduction potential, sulfate, and metals and metalloids. Numeric values shown in blue font are below the limit of quantification (LOQ).

Steps to reproduce

Water samples were collected from the Inlet (composite sample, untreated river water contaminated by ARD) and the effluents of three anaerobic constructed wetlands (CW01, CW02, CW03). pH, temperature, electrical conductivity, total dissolved solids, and oxidation-reduction potential were measured in situ with a portable Hach Sension 156 multiparameter. Samples for metal and metalloid analysis were stored in 80 ml polyethylene bottles, acidified with HNO₃ (pH<2), and refrigerated at 4 °C during transport; sulfate samples were only refrigerated. Metals and metalloids were analyzed by Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS), and sulfate by Ion Chromatography, at the SGS Laboratory, Lima, Peru
