Description

The dataset provides data useful to check the development of 143 municipalities in the state of Parà (Brazil) from the human development point of view in 1991, 2000 and 2010. The dataset provides indicators at the local level, with no missing records despite the high degree of disaggregation. The set of data allows developing socio-economic researches taking into account the pivotal role of access to services like piped water and electricity. Moreover, its degree of disaggregation also give room to the econometric spatial approach, whose insights are useful tools for regional and local policy. Its content allows highlighting the importance of access to basic services in the evaluation of human development: data aggregated at the municipal level and acquired by households make it possible to shift the research focus from the national amount of energy production/consumption to the local distribution of basic services (as in the case of the energy access).

Steps to reproduce

Since water and energy are functional to the achievement of other development goals, the dataset host both human development and accesses indicators. Additional socio-economic indicators are included avoiding those displaying N.A. records in order to allow the application of a balanced spatial panel analysis.
