This is a cross-sectional study, with a convenience sample, and data collection occurred from May to August 2017. Data collection began after approval by the Ethics Committee of the State University of the Midwest (UNICENTRO Paraná), under opinion number 2.348.058, as part of the larger project “Analysis of the relationship between maternal diet, breast milk composition, and the nutritional status of lactating women,” of which this study was an integral part. The study involved 98 pregnant women, with a mean age of 26.09 years (SD=6.7) and a mean gestational age of 24.8 weeks (SD=10.27), of which 17.3% (n=17) were in the first trimester, 31.6% (n=31) in the second trimester, and 51% (n=50) in the third trimester of pregnancy. With the exception of the last question (“Fruit intake can begin before 6 months of the child’s life”), related to complementary feeding, where one participant did not answer (n=97), all participants answered all the other questions (n=98). The study was conducted in collaboration with an obstetric professional from the city of Guarapuava, Paraná, where pregnant women waiting for prenatal consultations were invited to participate in the study. Initially, participants were informed about the study's objectives, and those who agreed to participate signed the informed consent form. The questionnaire, specifically designed for the study, consisted of twenty-five closed-ended questions aimed at identifying the main myths and truths regarding the following topics: pregnancy nutrition, care during pregnancy and postpartum, breastfeeding, and complementary feeding. For each question, the participant was required to mark only one answer, considering whether the statement was true or a myth for her.
