Determination Results of HSYA Content in 80 Safflower Germplasm Accessions

This dataset contains hydroxysafflor yellow A (HSYA) content data of 80 safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) germplasm accessions originating from 17 countries across Asia, Africa, and Europe. HSYA content was determined using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) following the method described in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2005 Edition, Volume I). Field experiments were conducted over two growing seasons (2017 and 2018) at the Yuanyang Experimental Station of Henan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, China. For each accession, HSYA content was measured in both years, and the average value was calculated. The dataset includes: (1) accession identifiers (R1–R80); (2) geographical origin of each accession; (3) HSYA content (mg·g⁻¹) for 2017 and 2018, and the average value. This dataset can be used for genetic diversity analysis, germplasm resource evaluation, and breeding research of safflower as a pharmaceutical crop.

Steps to reproduce

Safflower accessions were grown at the Yuanyang Experimental Station of Henan Academy of Agricultural Sciences in 2017 and 2018. Flowering tubular corollas at 3–4 days after anthesis were collected between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. and dried at 40–50°C. HSYA content was determined by HPLC following the method described in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2005 Edition, Volume I). For each accession, HSYA content was measured in both years, and the average value was calculated. Detailed experimental procedures are described in the associated research article.
