Description

The source of this dataset is the research article “Quantifying muscle alterations in a Parkinson's disease animal model using electromyographic biomarkers”. This study evaluated the effect of a neurotoxic lesion model of Parkinson's disease (PD) on muscle function of freely moving rats. Electromyographic recordings were obtained from control and hemiparkinsonian rats walking in a circular treadmill. The animal model of PD were obtained with an intracerebral injection of 6-hidroxidopamine. This neurotoxin was injected into the substantia nigra pars compacta of one hemisfere to induce the motor deficits associated to this Parkinson's disease animal model. Recordings were obtained with a bipolar electrode implanted on the biceps femoris muscle of the rats hindlimb in order to evaluate the effects of the lesion in the muscle function. More details about the experimental protocol and data adquisition can be obtained from the article related.
