This dataset compiles global measurements of microplastic (MP) contamination in edible bivalves and gastropods, alongside corresponding concentrations in surrounding environmental matrices (water and sediment). Data were systematically extracted from peer-reviewed publications and standardised to facilitate global comparisons. Each record contains georeferenced coordinates, organism or matrix type, measured MP concentration in particles per gram wet weight (g ww), and a DOI for the original source. This dataset is part of an ongoing study, the findings of which will be submitted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal. The dataset is intended to: Support spatial and comparative analyses of MP contamination in seafood and the marine environment. Evaluate bivalves and gastropods as bioindicators of local microplastic pollution. Contribute to risk assessments of human exposure to MPs via seafood consumption. Country – Sampling country. Latitude – Geographic coordinate (decimal degrees, north–south). Longitude – Geographic coordinate (decimal degrees, east–west). Type – Sample type (e.g., bivalve, gastropod, water, sediment). Organism/Matrix – Scientific name or environmental matrix description. Concentration (particles/g ww) – MP concentration in particles per gram wet weight.
