Digitized building footprints from VHR Worldview3 satellite image
Description
This data was generated from randomly selected square patches from the extents of a high-resolution Worldview3 satellite image (2023) for the Ashaiman district, Accra, Ghana. The patches were digitised by an expert in the fields of cartography, surveying, and GIS. This purpose of creating this dataset is to have a representative sample of patches, which was used for subsequent on-screen digitising of 2803 buildings polygons.

Steps to reproduce
Open QGIS: Start QGIS on your computer. Add Raster Layer: Go to Layer > Add Layer > Add Raster Layer. Locate and select your satellite image file (e.g., GeoTIFF) and click Open. Enable Digitizing Toolbar: If not already visible, right-click on the toolbar area and check Digitizing. Create a New Vector Layer: Go to Layer > Create Layer > New Shapefile Layer. Choose the geometry type (e.g., Point, Line, Polygon) and set the coordinate reference system (CRS). Start Digitizing: Use the digitizing tools (e.g., Add Feature) to trace the features you want to digitize from the satellite image. Click on the map to start digitizing and double-click to finish Save Your Work: Regularly save your digitized data to avoid losing progress
