This research dataset summarizes the structural limitations of the antibiotic-centered paradigm in infection control—including antimicrobial resistance, recurrent infections, and microbiome disruption—and organizes an alternative framework based on microbiome ecosystem–based anti-infective strategies. Rather than pursuing ever “stronger” pathogen-killing drugs alone, the dataset shifts the focus toward designing and restoring the environment in which infections emerge, recur, and persist, incorporating host immunity, microbial balance, treatment history, and ecosystem resilience.

Steps to reproduce

This dataset was generated by manual qualitative coding of a fixed version of the source commentary using a predefined codebook. Each row in the CSV outputs maps to a discrete claim or concept unit from the source text, with controlled vocabulary fields for theme, claim type, and intervention pillar. Quality control included coverage checks, traceability to source spans, and consistency review. Spreadsheet outputs were generated deterministically from CSV files using a versioned script and pinned software environment.
