Description

The replication package “Code and Data” contains two folders: Data: all intermediate datasets used to construct the final analysis dataset, including raw data from CSMAR, firm-level variables extracted from annual reports, region-level policy data, and other supporting files for cleaning and matching. This folder also contains a gephi subfolder with yearly network-construction files (e.g., edge lists) used to build the supply-chain network and compute network metrics such as degree centrality and closeness centrality, which are then imported into Stata for subsequent analysis. Do_file: Stata scripts for data construction and empirical analysis:  Data_merge.do: compiles the final analysis dataset by processing and merging raw/intermediate datasets (e.g., cleaning identifiers, matching firms across sources, constructing variables, and generating the final panel).  main.do: runs all baseline and additional regressions and exports the main tables and figures.

Steps to reproduce

All empirical analyses are conducted in Stata 18.0. The underlying firm-level data are compiled from publicly available sources, primarily the China Stock Market & Accounting Research (CSMAR) databases, together with information extracted from firms’ annual reports. The project folder Code and Data contains all replication code and datasets used in the paper. After setting the global paths and macros as instructed in the code header, run the scripts in the order indicated in the project directory.
