Description

This dataset includes mainly P- and S-wave velocity structures derived using diffuse field concept for earthquakes at 1744 K-NET and KiK-net sites. Additionally, we include the peak fundamental and predominant frequencies and the associated correlation coefficients and residuals between the observed and theoretical horizontal-to-vertical spectral ratios for earthquakes. This dataset could be used to detect the effective bedrock depths, as well as to estimate the site amplification factors.

Steps to reproduce

Based on earthquake waveforms downloaded for 1744 sites, which belong to K-NET and KiK-net in Japan, we first calculate the horizontal-to-vertical spectral ratios (eHVSR), then we invert these eHVSRs using the diffuse field concept for earthquakes to retrieve the subsurface velocity structures beneath each site. Many constraints were applied to achieve reliable velocity structures, as referenced in (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.soildyn.2023.108429).
