Codes and data for the article “How do disadvantaged children and parents form expectations of their adult education and occupations? Evidence from Baltimore”, Journal of Economics, Race, and Policy, revise and resubmit.
Description
These codes and data help to replicate all the empirical analysis in the article. The files also include the 2 appendices to the article, appendix A with summary tables, appendix B with robustness checks for the regressions such as heterogeneity across school levels and Blundell-Bond GMM regressions. If you use any of these codes and datasets, please cite these both sources: Madeira, C. (2025), “How do disadvantaged children and parents form expectations of their adult education and occupations? Evidence from Baltimore”, Journal of Economics, Race, and Policy, forthcoming. This research used the The Beginning School Study, 1982--2002 (Log# 01293) dataset (made accessible in 2004, numeric data files). These data were collected by Karl L. Alexander and Doris R. Entwisle and are available through the Henry A. Murray Research Archive of the Institute for Quantitative SocialScience at Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts (Producer and Distributor).

Steps to reproduce
Using the two Stata data files (Adult_outcomes_expectations.dta and bss_pej.dta) and the codes "Adult_outcomes_all.do" and "Wage_exps_All_race_gender.do", you can replicate almost the entire article. The other files help to create some summary tables and the table regressions in the appendices.
