Description

According to the data provided by the (SE, 2020, p. 3), Honduras possesses an estimated total of 24,563 educational institutions. Among these, 21,121 schools function as governmental administration centers, encompassing 17,525 physical facilities. Additionally, there are 3,442 non-governmental administration centers. Regrettably, a significant number of these centers suffer from a prevalent issue of abandoned didactic materials within their classrooms. One such neglected resource is the abacus, which is predominantly utilized solely for counting from 1 to 9 in numerous educational settings. In response to this concern, this workshop has been developed with the primary aim of fostering a comprehensive understanding of the abacus and its potential for facilitating basic operations within the classroom. By enhancing educators' knowledge and proficiency in employing this instructional tool, it is hoped that the workshop will effectively promote the more frequent utilization of the abacus by students.
