Description

This dataset documents the ecological and nutritional functional traits of plant species and their edible plant parts from 48 agroforests across Fiji, focusing on their ecological roles and contributions to human nutrition. It includes standardized taxonomic data, species origin, and traits that affect agroecological functions such as nutrient cycling and pest management. Ecological data collection utilized a range of sources including the TRY database and various botanical databases, with information from primary literature where necessary. Nutritional data covered 15 essential nutrients for humans, derived primarily from the Pacific Islands Food Composition Tables, with primary literature consulted where necessary. References are included within each file.
