Primary gypsum selenites were collected in 2021 from the Badenian (Middle Miocene) evaporite successions of the northern and eastern margins of the Carpathian Foredeep. The gypsum succession is cyclic in nature and well-exposed in southern Poland and western Ukraine. Selenite crystals have been dissolved; neodymium and samarium were isolated using column chromatography and analyzed by a multi-collector mass spectrometer (TIMS). The data demonstrate that Nd isotopes are more sensitive than Sr isotopes in detecting contributions of marine and/or non-marine waters during mixing processes.
