Glass City v4.0 — One Technology, Three Worlds A Unified Framework for Solar-Manufactured Glass Civilization on Earth, Mars, and the Moon
Description
Three previously separate proposals — Glass City (desert megastructure), ForgeShell™ (steel-encased glass blocks for humanitarian housing), and AEGIS™ (Martian habitat envelope) — are revealed here as one technology family built on a single thesis: Wherever there is ground and sun, civilization can be melted directly from the land it stands on. The unified platform consists of (1) solar-thermal melting of local silicate ground — desert sand on Earth, basaltic regolith on Mars and the Moon; (2) casting into thin layers laminated into thick, damage-tolerant structural composites; (3) integration of photovoltaics, electrical pathways, damping, and — off-world — radiation shielding and bioregenerative layers directly into the building envelope; and (4) a bootstrap industrial model in which mobile pioneer units build fixed solar glassworks, which then build cities. This document presents the complete platform: the shared physics and energy budget, the two Earth product lines (ForgeShell™ blocks and Glass City panels), the Empty Quarter Phase 1 feasibility model, and the off-world extension in which the same production architecture, re-layered per the AEGIS™ stack, produces radiation-safe sunlit habitats on Mars and the Moon. PART I — THE SHARED PLATFORM 1. Core Thesis and Technology Family Traditional construction in remote or hostile environments imports nearly 100% of structural mass. This platform inverts the ratio: 85–90% of structural mass originates from the ground at the building site. Only steel, polymers, PV laminate, and electronics are imported (and on Mars/Moon, even steel is a candidate for in-situ production from iron-rich regolith). The family tree: System| Environment| Unit| Scale ForgeShell™| Earth — distributed humanitarian housing| Steel-encased glass block (40×20×20 cm)| Homes, villages, disaster relief Glass City| Earth — Empty Quarter megastructure| 9×9 ft laminated glass-ceramic panel| Megacorridors, cube-center cities AEGIS™| Mars & Moon| Multi-function shielding panel| Radiation-safe surface habitats All three share the same furnace architecture, the same energy physics, and the same lamination-and-prestress structural logic. 2. Furnace Architecture — Hybrid Solar-Thermal Storage Furnace The common production furnace, at mobile (MDGCS) and fixed (Glassworks) scales: A spherical, heavily insulated blackbody melt cavity with a regenerative two-chamber preheat system, heated by direct concentrated solar input and maintained by electric resistance coils for 24-hour continuous operation.
