Description

Table 1 shows the total organic carbon content (TOC), radiocarbon activity (∆14C), Fraction modern carbon (F14C) data for surface sediment samples from the East China Sea (n = 255). Using a binary mixing moldel of Modern OC (F14C * OC) versus OC, we found relatively low petrogenic OC concentrations of marine sediments in the East China Sea compared to riverine sediments, probably suggesting a significant oxidation of petrogenic OC during sediment transfer to the coastal ocean.
