Description

These data are related to Atmospheric River occurrences. The data were collected in a 33-year period (jun1986-may2018) for extreme precipitation occurrences of Iran. The data were collected in two types : surface daily precipitation data of meteorological stations obtained from Islamic republic of Iran Meteorological organization (IRIMO), and 6 hourly daily 500 hpa geopotential height(Z), 1000-100hpa U component of wind(U), V component of wind(V)and specific humidity (Q), were extracted from ECMWF gridded dataset in 1*1 grid. Then, 1439 extreme precipitation days based of 90th Percentile approach (Alijani et al., 2008) were extracted from 11690 Rainy Days (More than 0.1 mm) in the study period. 895 AR days were identified in 1439 extreme precipitation days by calculating Integrated vapor transport(IVT) from the gridded U,V,Q data. In order to identification of circulation patterns of AR occurrences, the gridded mean daily 500 hpa geo potential height data were extracted for 895 AR days and so 15 principal components(explained 90 percent of variance) based on principal component analysis (PCA) were obtained as inputs of cluster analysis and finally 5 clusters as circulation patterns of Ars were identified. each of 5 clusters(circulation patterns), were analyzed based on the Representative days with the best inter group correlation coefficient and more extreme precipitation by plotting their graphs and composite g.p height and AR map.
