Biogeochemical Data from ODP Site 721A: Climatic Variability and Its Influence on the Indian Ocean Monsoon and on the NW Arabian Sea Oxygen Minimum Zone
Description
This dataset supports the research article titledClimatic Variability and Its Influence on the Indian Ocean Monsoon and on the NW Arabian Sea Oxygen Minimum Zone, which investigates the influence of abrupt climatic shifts, specifically Dansgaard–Oeschger (DO) events 11 to 9, on the Indian Ocean Monsoon system and the oxygen minimum zone (OMZ) in the northwestern Arabian Sea. The data were generated from 11 samples collected from Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) Site 721A and include: Total Organic Carbon (TOC) concentrations Carbon/Nitrogen (C/N) ratios Stable isotope compositions (δ¹³C_bulk, δ¹⁵N_bulk) of bulk sediments Relative abundances of planktonic foraminifera G. bulloides and G. ruber Shell-based stable isotope data (δ¹³C and δ¹⁸O) for G. ruber (partially available) Radiocarbon dates (AMS ¹⁴C) and calibrated age model information These proxies were used to reconstruct changes in productivity, OMZ intensity, and monsoonal variability during rapid climate transitions. The data are intended for reuse by the paleoclimate and oceanography research communities and may support future regional or global comparisons of monsoon–OMZ dynamics.
