Description

The T7 phage ejects three proteins called ejection proteins into the host cell envelope upon adsorption. Ejection proteins gp14, gp15, and gp16 assemble a DNA ejectosome to transport the viral genome across the cell envelope. Gp15 and gp16 form the periplasmic tunnel of the DNA ejectosome which we have resolved to 2.7 A resolution using cryo-electron microscopy single-particle analysis.
