Description

The section below Douar Imounsis, on the right bank of the Oued Tamelt, displays a diversity of facies and fossils. Extending over 21.5 meters, it shows alternating sandy-marl and calcareous sandstone facies at its base, followed by more friable sandstone to sandy limestone and conglomeratic facies. The macrofauna includes Meretrix gigas, Ostrea edulis lamellosa, and Turritella aspera, while the microfauna is dominated by Ammonia beccarii and Elphidium crispum, with levels rich in benthic foraminifera and some traces of planktonic foraminifera. Please note that we have cited only the species identified.
