Description

A collection of analyses focusing on ripple motion on several dunes within the Nili Patera dune field on Mars. See the paper Hood et al., 2021 (DOI: 10.3389/feart.2021.702828) for greater details on the generation of data. HiRISE images (not included) were compared using the COSI-Corr software (see: Leprince , et al., 2007. , IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 45, 1529-1558.) and ripple motion was determined from these comparisons. The folder "CosiCorrResults" contains these results as TIF images and the file FluxMapInfo includes details on which HiRISE images were used to make each flux map and when these images were taken in the martian year. Several sites were selected, in which the surface ripple patterns were mapped (see NiliDunesShapefiles.gdb/LeeWakePatternsA(B,C)). Transects were selected (NiliDunesShapefiles.gdb/LeeWakeA(B,C)Points_Patterns, MultiDuneATransectsPoints_Patterns) for analysis of ripple migration rate in comparison with ripple patterns. These analyses are detailed in the .xlsx files LeeWakeA(B,C)Points_Patterns.xlsx and LeeWakeAPoints_Patterns_Extended.xlsx In addition, 2-D ripples were traced (NiliDunesShapefiles.gdb/TwoDRippleLines(points)) and local wind directions were determiend based on their orientation and the shape of the underlying slope. The Rasters DuneHeightDEM and DTEEC_017762_1890_018039_1890_A01 were used to determine the shape of the slope.
