The paper tackles the issues of teaching foreign languages in non-linguistic universities. It identifies four main trends in foreign language teaching in non-linguistic universities, namely, individualization, culturalization, informatization and professionalization. The methods and tools of practical implementation of the given trends are described. The author points out to the importance of professionalization and to the special role of English as a means of international communication in preparation of would be professionals for cross-cultural communication and exchange in professional purposes.
