This published paper describes the subject of photographic composition. It was based on lessons on the subject at R.I.T. from Minor White and describes such things as balance of the subjects in the photograph, basic training in photographic seeing, how to select and simplify, making the laws of perception work for you, arranging the subject, cropping, visual weight, tones, value patterns, lines, value contrast, concepts about space, composing in 3 dimensions, and controlling the illusion of depth.
