WiFi Shore-to-shore communications dataset

Aquatic environments impose challenging conditions for signal propagation, impairing ubiquitous connectivity between (IoT) nodes resulting in degraded application performance. This dataset gathers information on the channel characteristics at 2.4 GHz between two shore nodes (shore-to-shore communications) operating over an intertidal zone with significant water level variations. The measurement campaign was conducted during the ebb period in the northern part of the coastal lagoon-estuarine system of Ria de Aveiro (Carregal, Ovar, Portugal) during May 2021. Steps to reproduce

The main file RSSI_data.csv contains the RSSI fluctuations as a function of time. The file results from the collection of 802.11 beacons, which are sent with a frequency of approximately 102.4 ms. The format of the file is: - unix timestamp of beacon reception (s) - RSSI measured at beacon reception (dBm) The file ant_heights.csv contains the TX and RX antenna heights w.r.t. the water level or mud bottom measured using a conventional tape. The format of this file is: - unix timestamp of measurement (s) - time of measurement (hh:mm:ss) - antenna height (m) - node, either transmitter (tx) or receiver (rx) The file tides.csv contains the water level at Carregal, Portugal on May 28, 2021, obtained from an open-source repository (https://tabuademares.com/). The format of this file is: - unix timestamp of high or low tide (s) - time of measurement (hh:mm:ss) - water level (m)
