Spatiotemporal variations of soil reactive nitrogen oxide fluxes across the anthropogenic landscape
Description
Dataset contains 132 samples. Soil was sampled seasonally over one year, in November 2021, February 2022, May 2022, and August 2022. Soil was sampled from three locations, University of Warwick Wellesbourne Campus, Warwick Town, and Coventry City, corresponding to low (<1000), mid (~35,000-52,000), and high (>400,000) human population. Within these locations, samples were taken from four land-use types: agricultural, woodland, grass-dominated, and built. Here, we define ‘built’ soil as that found within one metre of human made structure such as buildings and car parks. There were three replicates of each land-use type and each location. Measured variables are potential NOy, NO and NOy - NO fluxes from intact 0-10cm soil cores, soil physicochemical properties, 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing, quantitative PCR of nitrification genes, net rates of nitrogen cycle processes, and concentrations of heavy metals measured with ICP-OES.
