Description

The data aim to gain information about the relationship between consumers’ nutritional knowledge and their usage of nutrition facts labels, as well as the impact of using nutrition facts labels on product purchases. The available data files are three: (i) a codebook that maps the variables’ names and values to the questionnaire’s questions and answers; (ii) raw data of the collected survey translated into English; and (iii) a grand total table (GT table) for each questionnaire item.

Data were generated through an online survey. Respondents entered their answers using the “QiQUMO” questionnaire survey tool. The sample size was 500, and data were pre-assigned to be evenly distributed across seven age groups and two sex groups. Data consist only of those who submitted responses to all questions; thus, they do not include any missing values. Japanese was used for the survey questions and answers, and therefore, the data were translated into English.
