Conflict Resolution in Readymade Garment Sector
This study investigated the influence of job satisfaction, communication climate, work ethics, and social compliance on conflict resolution techniques in Bangladesh's readymade garment (RMG) sector. The data was collected from the RMG sector of Bangladesh. There are notable findings, such as the fact that there is a significant relationship between job satisfaction, communication climate, and conflict resolution techniques in the RMG sector of Bangladesh. The first research question was answered, and four hypotheses were then developed and empirically tested using PLS-SEM. Afterwards, the second research question was answered by the study. The goal of the current study was to examine the connections between CC and SMS, JS and CSM, WE and CMS, and SC and CMS in Bangladesh's RMG industry. An investigation into the effects of CC and JS on CMS indicated their significant direct effects. The results of the empirical investigation showed that conflict resolution strategies and communication climate (CC) have a positive relationship (CMS). The outcomes showed that they were in line with earlier studies (El Badriati et al., 2022; Kalogiannidis, 2021; Scarpero 1999; Shastri, 2018). The research also showed that conflict resolution strategies and job satisfaction (JS) have a significant relationship (CMS). Nonetheless, the RMG industry should continue to offer a happy working atmosphere to prevent the employees' job unhappiness. The outcomes in this instance were likewise in line with past studies (Ahmad, 2022; Ali and Anwar, 2021; Bhui et al., 2016; Yuan, et al., 2022). Yet, by reducing conflict, job satisfaction will aid the RMG sector in achieving long-term, sustainable results. To handle conflict, however, employee work satisfaction is crucial. A prior study demonstrated a substantial relationship between conflict resolution techniques (CMS) and work ethics (WE). Yet, this investigation has discovered that there is no causal link between them. The connection between social compliance (SC) and dispute resolution strategies (CMS) resulted the same (CMS). Analyzing mediation or moderation relationships in future research may be considered. The secondary goal was to examine how RMG's dispute resolution tactics were affected by the environment of communication, job satisfaction, work ethics, and social compliance. According to the results, techniques like "effective workplace communication atmosphere" and "workers' job satisfaction" play a significant part in attaining conflict resolution tactics in the manufacturing RMG sector. Work ethics and social compliance may have a long-term impact on conflict-free operational performance (Bag and Dhamija, 2022; Uddin et al., 2022; Ferine and Rahmadana, 2021; Brandes, 2021; Jaiswal and Ha-Brookshire) (2020).
Steps to reproduce
A quantitative research methodology is appropriate for this study since it strives to test the hypothesis by investigating links between variables, whereas a researcher seeks to analyze individual elements and forecast linkages between those variables (Apuke, 2017). The survey approach questionnaire was used to collect data from the Bangladesh RMG sector. Using a proportionate sampling selection procedure, a database of 390 workers from the sector was created. Stratifying the components along useful levels and then taking proportionate samples from the strata constitutes the proportionate sampling strategy (Chen et al., 2001; Sekaran and Bougie, 2016). With the same sample size, this sampling design is more effective than simple random sampling since each significant population segment is better represented, and more insightful and distinct information about each group is gathered (Sekaran and Bougie, 2016). 390 workers were recruited from 10 firms and used as study samples to meet the appropriately estimated sample size. Employees from each factory were represented as respondents, implying that 390 RMG workers participated in this study. Workers in the RMG industry are generally regarded as significant informants regarding what is going on in the factories. As a result, a diverse group of workers was chosen for the questionnaire's pilot testing. Following the pilot survey, the required questions were adjusted depending on group replies. Ethical concerns about responding to the questionnaire were also addressed. The survey was conducted using 500 questionnaires. Follow-up reminders were also sent to respondents. 410 survey instruments were collected using the data collected, with an 82% response rate. The data was screened, and the feedback from 390 surveys was judged to be suitable for further analysis after the data was cleaned. The data was analyzed using SPSS 23.0 and SmartPLS 4.0. It includes a graphical user interface (GUI) for variance-based SEM, which may model latent variables with few constraints (Hair et al., 2021). PLS-SEM was used in this work because of its low data requirements, simple assumptions, and capacity to model multiple variable connections (Hair et al., 2019). PLS, as is well known, does not require that the data be normally distributed (Hair et al., 2022). For the analysis, smaller datasets with a nominal, interval, or ratio may be examined (Hair et al., 2019).
