The Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21) developed by Lovinbond and Lovibond (1995) was adopted for the study. The DASS-21 is a self-reported questionnaire used in measuring depression, anxiety and stress. The scale consists of 21 items and three subscales. Each subscale has seven questions. Respondents are required to score each item on a scale of 0-3 (0=did not apply to me at all; 1=applied to me some degree, or some of the time; 2=applied to me a consideration degree, or a good part of time and 3=applied to me very much, or most of the time). Scores for each subscale are summed and multiply by 2 to give a picture of the prevalence of each subscale in the studied population. In relation to depression, the following ratings are indicated (0-9=normal; 10-13=mild; 14-20=moderate; 21-27=severe; 28+=extremely severe). Scores for anxiety ranges as follows: 0-7=normal; 8-9=mild; 10-14=moderate; 15-19=severe and 20+=extremely severe. Stress, the last subscale is scored as: 0-14=normal; 15-18=mild; 19-25=moderate; 26-33=severe and 34+=extremely severe. Online questionnaires were sent to the students to complete. The completed questionnaires were exported to MS Excell and later to IBM SPSS V21 for processing and analysis.
