S-Reutericyclin Study
Description
In this project we evaluated the in vivo effect of commercially available S-reutericyclin on the fecal microbiome and volatile organic compound profile of mice. Mice of the reutericyclin group exhibited a trend towards decreased alpha diversity, significantly altered beta diversity and a trend towards dysbiosis in the LEfSE analysis. The boom, mapping and taxonomy file can be obtained below. The groups addressed in this study are labelled with AQ (control group) and RZ (S-reuterizyclin group). VOC analysis showed significant alterations of Pentane, Heptane, 2,3-Butanediol and 2-Heptanone in the headspace of fecal samples. The VOC data can be accessed below. AQ are control animals, RZ the intervention group and RAL room air samples.

16S data was uploaded to Calypso 8.4 and analyzed as described in the manuscript (alpha diversity: chao1, inversed Simpson and Shannon; beta diversity: RDA, PCoA and Anosim Bray Curtis; Group comparison: LEfSE) For VOC data all mouse samples where the room air mean was > 30% of the animal mean were excluded. Similarly all murine samples with responses < 2 subjects. The remaining parameters were corrected for stool weight and compared with a Mann-Whitney-U-Test.
