Description

The dataset consists of geothermal data collected by different international organisations per country. We have reached to the geothermal data sources of International Geothermal Organization, European Geothermal Energy Council, International Energy Agency, IRENA, World Energy Council, Global Geothermal Energy Alliance. The data is reported for two main applications of the geothermal energy: power generation and heating (and cooling) production. The values represent a ratio between a reported value (a country value) and a baseline value. Such approach is taken for the purpose of the data analysis but as well to standardise the values which varies among the reporting entities. In addition, this way of presenting data does not show the exact values since some of the data is available upon paid access (therefore, the authors keep the confidentiality of the values reported per each country). The data is elaborated for two time periods 2015 and 2019.

Steps to reproduce

1. Identification of geothermal data sources and classification. 2. Collection of the data from the sources per country. 3. The baseline data is established to be the International Geothermal Association data. 4. Creation of data relative values for each country in the selected category. 5. The data normalisation is made for two periods of time 2015 and 2019.
