Description

We explored the geotechnical characteristics of cliff base rocks (gray mudstone) at Arboletes to shed light on how rock mechanics influence soft-cliff retreat. Despite apparent similar characteristics from descriptive studies, index properties differed and mechanical tests (monotonic and dynamic triaxial test) showed the mechanical response was different. We obtained the data with a triaxial chamber at the Soils Laboratory of EAFIT University after collecting samples at two sites in Arboletes town (Department of Antioquia), Caribbean Coast of Colombia. The files include: (1) a text with the test results for index properties, and (2) a spreadsheet with data used to create Figures that show differences in mechanical responses.
