Description

Main problem of the research is low acceptance of the process oriented urban design among stakeholders in sustainable urban regeneration of Bac Settlement. The main doubt is the reason of non-acceptance: Is it related to stakeholders’ profile or commonly used in urban regeneration? The question will be investigated on real case in Serbia named: “Integrative urban design in Bač settlement regeneration” using questionaries' as well. Questionnaires are related to failures and successes of achieving ‘New Unity’ as integrative place. The questionnaires are grouped in three sections: a) Opinions about sustainable urban regeneration, b) Opinions about urban design, c) Opinions about understanding and willingness to participate in the Integrative urban design game in future. For this research the most relevant questions are in the section of understanding and willingness to participate more intense in the game/method in future, therefore they will be mostly presented. The examinees varied according to their profession, experience and age. 28.57% of examinees were in the sector of economy (tourism or management), 14.28% were in the sector of environment (energy efficiency or protection of natural resources), 14.28% were in law area, 21.42% were in media and culture, 7.14% were in sector of protection of cultural heritage, 7.14% were in sector of civil engineering, 7.14% were in other areas. According to the results 50% of economists characterize Integrative urban design game and its process as integrative regarding different sectors of urban regeneration. The other 50% of them see it as artistic, spatial – technical and rich in regeneration options. Heritage protectors in 100% see it as integrative regarding different sectors of urban regeneration. Lawyers in 100% think it as strategic – planning. The same is with, civil engineers, other, and environmentalists, who add the spatial – technical dimension. The 66.66% from media and culture see it as strategic – planning and 33.34% think it is integrative regarding different sectors of urban regeneration as well as it is rich in regeneration options. 78.57% of all examinees would participate more intense in the process in future because they believe the method would provide better solutions for urban regeneration in Bač. 7.14% have opposite attitude and 14.28% are uncommitted. Prevailing thinking among all is that positive sides of the method are: creating common vision for urban regeneration, variety of ideas for possible solutions, building trust among various stakeholders in community, creating partnerships for implementation and developing urban design framework. However, 92.86% out of them see lack of knowledge regarding contemporary approaches to urban design and urban regeneration as the main obstacle for implementation of the method in Bač community. Only a few of them (7.14%) partly believe that the obstacle can be the resistance to change.
