Description

The Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Ureña takes pride in its commitment to research, a cornerstone of its academic mission. Over the years, the various schools and faculties of the university have tirelessly sought ways to foster and stimulate active participation in research-related activities among both faculty and students. However, it has been the School of Medicine, led by a passionate group of individuals, that has taken this commitment to new heights through the establishment of the Student Advisory Board. Since its inception, the Student Advisory Board at the School of Medicine has become a beacon of change and innovation in promoting research among undergraduate students. Among its many functions, this board has worked tirelessly to involve an increasing number of students in research activities. As time has progressed, there has been a noticeable increase in the participation, frequency, and quality of contributions from undergraduate students in various research-related initiatives. The activities promoted by this board cover a wide spectrum, ranging from the drafting of scientific articles to the creation of structures that facilitate the formation of interest groups, along with inspiring talks that promote research within the classroom. Furthermore, research workshops have been established, resulting in a greater willingness among students to engage in small-scale research projects. Opportunities have also been provided for students to receive training in reading and reviewing scientific articles, as well as presenting their research at reputable scientific events. This collection of achievements is the outcome of a collaborative effort that has transformed the experience of medical students over these four years.
