Description

We conducted a global landscape analysis on BEP supplementation to directly inform former USAID country programs implementing BEP supplementation. Stakeholders interviewed were from former USAID country programs on maternal health and/or emergency nutrition in Colombia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Malawi, Mozambique, and Nepal. Key informant interviews (KIIs) were conducted with country stakeholders (n= 7) and global stakeholders (n= 6) to inform implementation of BEP supplementation via facility and community-based ANC platforms. Key themes explored in this landscape analysis were: enabling environment, service readiness, BEP product selection and distribution systems, monitoring needs, and other relevant considerations. Key informants included maternal health and nutrition professionals from international non-profit and multilateral organizations, country governments, program implementers, and donors. All KIIs were conducted online via Microsoft Teams and recorded. Transcripts were transcribed verbatim and were accompanied by detailed notes taken during interviews. Qualitative analysis was conducted using Dedoose software, according to emergent key themes and subthemes.
