Tropical Gulf Sediment Nitrogen Removal Seasonal Parameters and Global Coastal Sediment Nitrogen Removal Rates Dataset
Description
This dataset includes seasonal environmental and hydrological parameters, sediment characteristics, and sediment potential denitrification and anammox rates from three tropical oyster farming bays. It also encompasses nitrous oxide (N₂O) production rates and their proportional contributions, as well as the proportion of anammox to total nitrogen removal in coastal sediment ecosystems globally, all collected from published research. References are cited within the dataset.

The temperature and salinity of bottom water were measured using a handheld multiparameter water quality analyzer (WTW, Multi 340i). The concentrations of NOx- and NH4+ were determined using a continuous flow analyzer. The TOC and TN contents were determined by an Elemental Analyzer (EA, Elemental Analyzer) after removing inorganic carbon, and C/N was then calculated. Sediment Chl-a concentration was determined using spectrophotometric method after ethanol extraction. The 15N-labeled gaseous products, including 29N2, 30N2, 45N2O and 46N2O in the slurry incubation samples were quantified by applying an isotope ratio mass spectrometer (Thermo Finnigan Deltaplus Advantage) equipped with N2 and N2O pre-enrichment systems.
