Description

We present bathymetrical and hydrological data from newly formed lagoon between Eidembreen glacier and Eidembukta bay in Svalbard, European Arctic. Surveys were conducted in 2022 August 21-26th, 2023 August 14-19th and 2024 July 22-24th. The dataset consists of bathymetry data and hydrological data. Bathymetry data was collected using Garmin Echomap UHD 92sv sonar with GT56UHD-TM transducer, additionally, in 2022 shallow depths were measured with a sonar Deeper chirp+2. Hydrological data was collected using Valeport SWiFT SVP probe in 2022 and 2024, while in 2023 a multiparameter probe CTD115M was used. Bathymetrical data files consist of coordinates (longitude, latitude in WGS 1984 coordinate system) and depth measurements (in meters). Hydrological data from 2022 and 2024 consists of several parameters: depth profile (m), pressure (decibars), sound velocity (m/s), temperature (degree Celsius), salinity (PSU), density (kg/m3), conductivity (milliSiemens per centimeter), date and time. Hydrological data from 2023 consists of following parameters: pressure (decibars), temperature (degree Celsius), conductivity (milliSiemens per centimeter), oxygen saturation (%), dissolved oxygen concentration (mg/l), pH, photosynthetically active radiation (microeinsteins), turbidity (FTU), salinity (PSU), density (kg/m3), sound velocity (m/s). The dataset consists of two directories: 1) “Bathymetry”, which includes four excel files “depths_Deeper2022.xlsx”, “depths_Garmin2022.xlsx”, “depths_Garmin2023.xlsx” and “depths_Garmin2024.xlsx”, with indication to sonar used and the year of survey; 2) “Hydrology”, which contains three subfolders “2022”, “2023” and “2024” indicating the year of survey. Each subfolder consists of two excel files with coordinates (contains site names, longitude and latitude in WGS 1984 coordinate system) and hydrological data (contains hydrological data for each site in separate sheet). Geographic information. Edge coordinates of the the lagoon are: Northernmost point 78°24’19.1’’N / 12°50’33.7’’E, Easternmost point 78°22’10.4’’N / 12°55’44.8’’E, Southernmost point 78°21’13.1’’N / 12°52’34.4’’E, Westernmost point 78°22’30.8’’N / 12°45’26.8’’E.
