Description

The dataset reports six metals (Al, Ba, Ca, Cu, Fe, and Zn), one nonmetal (Se), and one metalloid (As) quantified in the samples of canned tuna and canned sardines sold in Brazil. Data was obtained using inductively coupled plasma optical spectrometry (ICP OES). In detail, the dataset presents: - Canned tuna 1) Four brands of Brazilian companies that sell canned tuna (G, C, O, and P) were selected; 2) The following types of canned tuna were considered: natural grated tuna (NGT), oil grated tuna (OGT), solid natural tuna (SNT), and solid tuna in oil (STO); 4) Data on canned tuna in the table is presented as NGT-G = natural grated tuna of company G, NGT-C = natural grated tuna of company C, NGT-O = natural grated tuna of company O, NGT-P = natural grated tuna of company P, OGT-G = oil grated tuna of company G, OGT-C = oil grated tuna of company C, OGT-O = oil grated tuna of company O, OGT-P = oil grated tuna of company P, SNT-G = solid natural tuna of company G, SNT-C = solid natural tuna of company C, STO -O = solid natural tuna of company O, STO -P = solid natural tuna of company P, STO -G = solid tuna in oil of company G; STO-C = solid tuna in oil of company C, STO -O = solid tuna in oil of company O, STO-P = solid tuna in oil of company P; - Canned sardines 1) Ten samples of two batches of canned sardines were purchased from four brands (G, C, O, P, and Pa); 2) The samples of canned sardines were placed into two groups: sardines canned in oil (SO) and sardines canned in tomato sauce (STS); 3) Data on canned sardines in the table is presented as SO-G = sardines canned in oil of company G, SO-C = sardines canned in oil of company C, SO-O = sardines canned in oil of company O, SO-P = sardines canned in oil of company P, SO-Pa = sardines canned in oil of company Pa, STS-G = sardines canned in tomato sauce of company G,STS-C = sardines canned in tomato sauce of company C, STS-O = sardines canned in tomato sauce of company O, STS-P = sardines canned in tomato sauce of company P, STS-Pa = sardines canned in tomato sauce of company Pa; The data on the samples' contentis presented in triplicates, which were obtained from the analysis made by ICP OES (iCAP 6300 Duo, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Bremen, Germany). All element contents were determined on the fresh weight of the sample; -Data on Limit of detection (LOD):by definition of Limit of Detection (LOD), anything presented as LOD is not detectable by the instrument. On the other hand, ND = not determined; Calcium (Ca) concentrations were higher than the values determined by the calibration curves 2.0 mg/kg. The row in the tables describes chemical elements quantified in canned tuna and canned sardines. Thus, the raw data can be compared with other data published in the literature on canned fish.
