Remziye Akdoğan,

This dataset includes U-Pb detrital zircon ages and Lu-Hf analyses from a provenance study on the Paleozoic to Mesozoic siliciclastic rocks of the Istanbul Zone, NW Turkey.

Steps to reproduce

U-Pb dating analytical procedure CL images of zircons were taken with a Carl Zeiss Supra 55 field-emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) coupled to a GATAN MonoCL4 detector at the State Key Laboratory for Mineral Deposits Research in Nanjing University, China. The analysis conditions were an accelerating voltage of 7 kV, working distance of 11.8 mm, and aperture size of 30 μm. Zircon grains of the dated samples display oscillatory and sector zoning and they have angular to rounded shapes (Figure S2). Zircon U–Pb isotope analyses were done using an ThermoFisher Scientific iCAP QR ICP-MS coupled to a Geolas 193 nm laser ablation system at the State Key Laboratory for Mineral Deposits Research of Nanjing University (MiDeR-NJU), following the procedures described by Jackson et al. (2004) and Wang et al. (2014). All analyses were carried out with a spot size of 32 μm, a repetition rate of 5 Hz, and 50% energy. The U–Pb fractionation was corrected using zircon standard GEMOC GJ-1 with 207Pb/206Pb age of 608.5 ± 1.5 Ma (Jackson et al., 2004) and accuracy was monitored using the zircon standard Mud Tank with an age of 732 ± 5 Ma (Black and Gulson, 1978). More than 120 randomly selected detrital zircon grains per sample were dated. The U–Pb ages were calculated from the raw signal data using the software GLITTER (version 4.4) (; Griffin, 2008). Ages with discordance >10% are excluded from the discussion. Zircon ages with discordance <10% are considered to be valid detrital zircon U-Pb ages. Lu-Hf isotope measurement procedure Zircon Hf isotopic analyses were carried out at the State Key Laboratory for Mineral Deposits Research, Nanjing University, using a Neptune plus MC-ICP-MS with a ESI NWR193HE laser ablation system. The analyses were conducted with a repetition rate of 6 to 8 Hz, energy of 10 to 15 J/cm2, and beam diameter of 44 μm. The raw intensity of 172Yb, 173Yb, 175Lu, 176(Hf + Yb + Lu), 177Hf, 178 Hf, 179Hf, and 180Hf were collected. The isobaric interference and instrumental mass bias were corrected using the methods and parameters given in the study of Wu et al. Standard zircons Mud Tank and 91500 were used to monitor the instrumental state and analytical accuracy. The resultant 176Hf/177Hf during the analyses was 0.282481 ± 0.000026 (2s, n = 80) for Mud Tank, 0.282285 ± 0.000030 (2s, n = 50) for 91500. Lu - Hf isotopic measurements were performed on the same spots of the zircon grains with concordant U-Pb age (discordance < 10%).
