Description

This repository contains datasets associated with the research paper entitled "Improving the robustness of retail workforce management with a triple labor flexibility strategy and consideration of demand uncertainty", which presents a novel solution to a retail personnel scheduling problem (PSP). The dataset contains three folders called "real data", "processed data", and "simulated data" for the three analyses performed in the computational tests: In-sample, out-of-sample, stochastic approach versus deterministic approach. The "real data" folder contains only one file called "DP-real", which describes (i) the demand for working hours, differentiated by department and week, (ii) the characteristics of the work contract, including aspects such as the number of annual working hours and average weekly working hours, as well as minimum and maximum weekly working hours; and finally (iii) the cost structure used. The "processed data" folder contains a file named "Processed_PM-k=2_TM-k=2", which is a dataset that must be constructed to evaluate the PM-k=2 and TM-k=2 experiments. For detailed information on the construction process of these datasets, the reader is referred to Appendix A of the paper by Porto et al. (2022). Finally, the "simulated data" folder contains two folders, the first called "In_sample_analysis" and the second called "Out_of_sample_analysis". Each of these folders contains 5 files that describe simulated data of demand considering five variabilities (10% to 50%) and different number of scenarios (i.e., 100 or 1000 ).
