Data was collected for patients undergoing major surgery by gynecologic oncologist. Two groups of patients were reviewed. Patients prior to oral antibiotic bowel prep regiment was compared to those in the post antibiotic bowel prep regiment. A T-test and a logistic regression model was used. The two groups were compared in terms of surgical site infection defined by deep/organ pelvic collection. A standard expected value of infection was calculated from CDC for our region to calculate expected decrease by 50% with a power of 80. Logistic regression model was used to check for confounding factors.
