Dataset of SSR markers for Hedychium spicatum (Zingiberaceae) based on draft genome assembly and experimental characterization of few markers

Description

This is the dataset of candidate SSR markers for the montane ginger Hedychium spicatum (family: Zingiberaceae). SSR markers are inferred based on contig level genome assembly of H. spicatum using MISA and the primers are designed using Primer3. The annotation of the contigs and the SSR markers are given in the tables. From the set of candidate SSR loci, 62 were tested for amplification success and homology by experimental validation. 11 markers were characterized by amplifying in a set of samples whose collection details are also provided in a table format. Genotypes for all the samples in terms of the fragment length for all the 11 loci is also given in GenAlex format. Experimental details of this data set are soon to be communicated in a manuscript.
