A study on Assessing Awareness Level of POCSO Act, In area of Vadodara, state of Gujarat India

This study focuses on whether the students have knowledge about the abuse or not, and what resources wherein they get this information. And to understand their mentality about such offenses. This study will also help to know more about their lifestyles, how much awareness is still needed in society, and where the authorities must work on it. The study was conducted in Vadodara city in Gujarat India, the distinct age group for this study is between 9 to 18 years. The researcher used a random sampling method to collect the data, a self-made questionnaire. Socio-demographic details of the study – 1. In this research, the majority of the students belong to the age group of 16 to 18 years which is 78.6% and the other age group is 13 to 15 years which consists of 13 to 15 years. 2. The method used in this research is random sampling, wherein the students from the top private schools as well as from government schools were targeted to know the real difference in the awareness of the POCSO Act in the city. 3. While conducting the survey, the researcher has explained the Act and its relevance to the students so it becomes easy for them to fill out the survey form. 4. From the responses which are collected, 55.4% are female students and 44.6% are male students. Through this, can understand that girls are more responsible and they are aware of such laws in society.
